The lip complex has gentle peaks, soft commissures, and a defined vermilion border. In a balanced face the upper lip measures about 7 to 8 mm and the lower around 10 to 12 mm in height, with the lower lip slightly fuller. When one or both lips fall outside this range, speech, lip closure, and self-confidence can all be affected. Lip reshaping surgery restores a comfortable proportion.
Lip size reduction is most often requested for cosmetic reasons, but it can also address functional problems such as drooling, difficulty closing the mouth, or speech difficulty.
