Ear Lobe Repair
Ear lobe repair in Lucknow at Kayakriti corrects torn, split, or stretched earlobes from heavy earrings, accidental tears, or large-gauge piercings. Dr. Amit Agarwal, FRCS Edinburgh, performs lobuloplasty as a quick, day-care ear lobe surgery in Lucknow under local anaesthesia. Re-piercing is usually possible after about six weeks, restoring the option to wear earrings comfortably again.

About Ear Lobe Repair
Earlobes can split or stretch over time from years of heavy earrings, sudden trauma such as a snagged earring, infections from old piercings, or stretched gauges that have not been allowed to retract naturally. Beyond the cosmetic concern, these defects can interfere with future piercing and wearing of earrings. Torn earlobe repair restores a smooth lobe contour and a continuous edge, often with a virtually invisible scar.
During consultation, Dr. Agarwal examines both lobes, photographs the defect, and plans a precise repair pattern. Smaller splits are repaired with a simple straight-line closure, while completely torn or wide gaps may need a small Z-plasty or other geometric closure to avoid notching. Stretched piercings are shortened and reshaped to give a neat, natural lobe outline.
The procedure is performed in our minor procedure room under local anaesthesia. Most repairs take twenty to forty minutes per side. After cleaning and freezing the area, the edges of the defect are freshened, and the lobe is rebuilt in carefully aligned layers using fine sutures. A small dressing is applied, which is replaced after a couple of days.
Recovery is straightforward. There are usually no dietary restrictions, and most patients return to work the next day. Sutures are removed at about seven days. The lobe is kept clean and dry for the first week, with simple analgesia for any mild discomfort. Strenuous exercise and swimming are avoided for two weeks to protect the repair.
Re-piercing is generally possible after six weeks once healing is complete, and we usually advise placing the new piercing slightly away from the previous scar. Long-term results are stable when patients avoid very heavy earrings and treat the lobe gently. The final scar typically fades to a thin pale line that is hard to see in normal interaction.
